Equipment regulations 07/08 season

 27 May 2007

The equipment regulations for the new season remain largely unchanged, FIS having decided that major changes should only occur in the season following a winter Olympics and thus be on a 4 year cycle.

The only change to note is that the rule requiring CH2 racers to use super G skis for Super G races (i.e. not GS skis) will now be enforced by Great Britain. Thus, ALL CHILDREN 2 CATEGORY RACERS (YOB 93 & 94) WILL NOW HAVE TO USE Super-G skis for children's Super-G races.

If you start looking now, a very limited number of these skis might be available on the second hand market and will be little used.  Larger and heavier racers might find a ladies FIS Super G ski a viable alternative and there should be more of these available second hand.

These camps are always excellent training and a great experience for those that take part. 3 highly experienced coaches, including Martin himself will organise the carefully designed program

ESSKIA Training Day

24 June 2007

Despite raining on and off for most of the day, the ESSKIA training day at Southampton Alpine Centre was a great success.

Thanks also to coach Fabrizio Ghislanzoni for running the beginners “taster” sessions and to the Southampton Alpine Centre team for their support throughout the day.

E.S.Ski.A squad selection

The big news is that 4 S.A.S.A racers have been selected for the English School’s Ski Association race squads. Hobie will be training with the junior squad again this season, Josh & Giacomo are headed to Norway with squad II, the younger squad, and Richard will train there with squad I. Keep training hard and we could see more of this in future years.

Following Monica Gash’s pioneering venture to a Canadian Ski Academy, and resultant successes which are echoed by the positive experience the academy itself feels has come from this, they would like to offer the opportunity for other British Skiers to apply for the coming academic year/season or possibly in future years.
