Winter League 2008/2009

After last year’s success we have again negotiated with the Alpine Centre to put on a series of timed events, one Sunday a month over the winter. This is great fun for everyone but also an excellent way to prepare for the interschools race in the spring and the English Schools events next year.  Although aimed primarily at schoolchildren, adults are welcome to enter.  Results will be posted on the website after each event.

Race dates are:               Sunday 23rd November 2008

                                       Sunday 14th December 2008

                                       Sunday 11th January 2009

                                       Sunday 1st February 2009

The league will run as follows:

 

Time; Sunday; 10.45am - 12.45pm

 

Program; warm-up time followed by timed runs through a course on the main slope. Each skier’s best time will be recorded on a certificate of achievement.

 

The League; the best time from each event will be carried forward to an end of season total, from which winners will be calculated. If someone has to miss an event, they will be awarded a penalty time equal to their worst time from the other 3 races + 10% (minimum of 3 events required therefore to qualify for the league awards) If you can't make all the dates you will still be welcome at those you can do and will still get your certificate.

 

Cost; £9 to all club members and associate members.  Cheques payable to SASA.

 

Eligibility; anyone who can by now safely negotiate the main slope (which is pretty much everyone) will be able to enter. Everyone will end up with certificates recording their achievement.
